Dr Raka Maitra
Raka Maitra is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist. She is an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College London. She is currently working on structural phenotypes of adolescents with psychotic like experiences in the IMAGEN dataset. She held a Marie Curie Fellowship in Neuroimaging in The EU Twins Study in Schizophrenia and obtained her MD (res) in Psychiatry from University of Jena, Germany. She was a visiting researcher at Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, Melbourne, Australia. She received the first prize in neuroscience at National Brain research Institute, India and The Florence Nichols prize for the best outgoing student in Psychiatry, CMC Vellore, India.
She enjoys teaching and was a teaching fellow for the module Psychology and Neuroscience of Psychosis, MSc Mental health studies at King’s College London. Currently she teaches on the Child Psychiatry curriculum for medical students and BSc Neurosciences and Mental Health at Imperial College London.

Dr Maitra received The British Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (BAPIO) 2020 award for supporting junior international doctors stranded during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr Maitra was nominated as part of the 25 Women In Psychiatry project by the Women and Mental Health Special Interest Group at the Royal College of Psychiatrists in 2021. You can read about this here.
